Ideas, plus!

Just as there is Fashion Week in London and in New York, this coming weekend could aptly be referred to as Home Design Week in Minnesota!

If you live within an hour of the Twin Cities and west, you have the unique advantage of not one…not two …but three home tours going on; likely in your neighborhood.  There truly may not be a better weekend to be out gathering design ideas.  Over 300 homes finished and decorated; simple proof that there is a design solution for every home, new or old with big and small budgets!  Get out your map and notebook; here are the details…

The Tour of Homes hosted by the CMBA (Central Minnesota Builders Association) is holding their annual fall event again this weekend (homes were open last weekend as well).  They have a fantastic website with all the details and the tour is free to the public.

The ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Sample Sale is held this week at International Market Square, located on Market Street just off of Glenwood Avenue in Minneapolis.  You’ll find selected home goods at 50-80% off retail pricing, including furniture, rugs, lamps, accessories and more!  Arrive early and stay late… this is the best home furnishings sale in the metro and it is well attended.  A special bonus, interior designers roam this event, at the ready to answer your design questions!

The Homes by Architects Tour is also going on this weekend, hosted by AIA (American Institute of Architects) Minnesota chapter.  It’s a smaller scale tour but full of big ideas.  If you’ve ever wondered what an architect designed home looks like, now is the best opportunity to do so.

And last, but not least, The Builders Association of the Twin Cities is hosting their Fall Parade of Homes now through September 29th with homes open select hours, Thursday through Sunday.  The tour has gradually evolved to include homes in the outer ring suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul; this year reaching as far west as Delano and Waconia, to the south in New Prague and Hastings, east to Hudson and north to St. Francis and Oak Grove.

Go!  Roam!  Take a drive!  Get insipired!
