What is Energy Star?
Energy Star is a joint government program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, that certifies products and practices that are energy efficient to help consumers save money and protect the environment. Energy Star results are already adding up. In 2009 alone, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved enough energy to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 30 million cars. Plus, Energy Star has saved American homeowners nearly $17 billion on utility bills.
Why Choose Energy Star...
Energy efficient products can save families about a third on their energy bill, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. Energy Star products help you make the energy efficient choice.
- If looking for new household products, look for ones that have earned Energy Star certification. These products must meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and US Department of Energy. (Acclimated Entry Systems offer a wide range of Energy Star certified products).
- If looking for a new home, look for one that has earned the Energy Star.
- If looking to make larger improvements to your home, EPA offers tools and resources to help you plan and undertake projects to reduce your energy bills and improve home comfort.
In addition to saving money on your energy bills, an energy efficient door will deliver more comfort in hot or cold temperatures and protect your valuables from sun damage.
In 2011, homeowners can also qualify for a tax credit of 10% of the cost of the door up to $500.
