Care and Finishing

For best results doors and millwork should always be handled as though it were fine furniture, whether unfinished or prefinished.

Protect your investment and assure appearance by having it prefinished by the experts at Bayer Built.

Unfinished millwork is especially susceptible to dirt, grime and the high-moisture conditions if construction settings. If you choose to have product finished on site, please observe these precautions:

How you store, handle and prepare items prior to finishing will directly impact the final appearance; and could affect the warranty.

• Do not expose door to excessive moisture, dry conditions, heat or cold;
• Cutting or altering doors will void the warranty;
• Doors must be sanded to eliminate cross-sanding and to prepare surface for stain;
• All six sides of the door must be sealed to prevent moisture absorption;
• Do not continue finishing if appearance of the first door does not meet expectations

NOTE: Unless Bayer Built’s Premium Finish is applied, maple items are recommended for clear-coat applications only.

Follow recommended finishing instructions of the door manufacturer. Bayer Built Woodworks will not assume responsibility for the appearance of field-finished doors.
