Energy Star

What is Energy Star?
Energy Star is a government program that certifies products and practices that are energy efficient to help consumers save money and protect the environment.

Bayer Built’s commitment to the environment…
Bayer Built is proud to offer Energy Star certified products. Bayer Built’s Acclimated Entry Systems are a combination of premium components designed and built to meet the extreme conditions of our Midwest climate. We are committed to offering products and components that meet or exceed industry performance standards. By participating in the Energy Star program we can provide our customers with third party verification that our Acclimated Entry System will perform in any climate.

The certification process…
Products within our Acclimated Entry Systems have met the strenuous energy efficiency standards as set by Energy Star and NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council). The NFRC is a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows, doors, skylights, and attachment products.

Why select an energy efficient product?
In addition to saving money on your energy bills, your Energy Star certified door will deliver more comfort in hot or cold temperatures and protect your valuables from sun damage.

Home owners can also qualify for a tax credit of 30% of the cost of the door up to $1,500.

How do you know if your product qualifies for the tax credit?
As of January 4th, 2010 all Energy Star products qualify for the 2010 tax credit. All products must have a U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) less than or equal to 0.30. You can find the U-factor and SHGC on the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) label. See an example of the NFRC label.
